Yahya Sultan is experienced teaching Sunday school and has run student-centric masjid programs designed to motivate children to critically understand Islamic concepts and terms in a way which is fun and creatively inspiring. Yahya has been a student of Islamic knowledge since 2005, learning from local scholars within his community, including Mufti Abdul Muqtadir Sikander of Jami’ah Islamiyyah Ta’leem Uddin Dabhel. His studies are mainly focused on the life and work of Imam Ghazali(RA). Yahya has over a decade of non-profit experience and is a grassroots organizer within the northern New Jersey Muslim community. He is a former secretary and board member of a prominent masjid located in northern New Jersey. He is an alumni of the University of Southern California’s American Muslim Civic Leadership Institute. Yahya is currently a Disaster Relief Instructor with Islamic Relief USA, certified through the American Red Cross. Yahya is also the Community Emergency Response Team Chief Coordinator for the Bergen County Muslim community. Yahya enjoys reading, writing, cycling, practicing Brazilian Ju Jitsu, performing at open mics.
