Worship and spirituality are integral parts of the foundation of Cordoba House. We strive to enrich our souls by remembering the Divine and testifying to the oneness of God in all of our actions. We are organizing services in the near future that will grant our community members opportunities to engage in prayers, meditation, and other spiritual activities.
In addition, many special worship opportunities occur during the course of the year, both in observance of major Islamic holidays, such as Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha, Ramadan Taraweeh prayers, and Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) birthday.
Our Worship and Spirituality Services Include:
Khutbah
Cordoba House will be offering a weekly Jumu’ah Prayer and Khutbah service every Friday afternoon. A Khutbah is an address or public prayer where we offer our glorification to God and praise Muhammad (PBUH) and his descendants.
Services will be open to men and women and the sermon will be delivered in Arabic and English.
Marriage Services
Holy matrimony is the sacramental rite in which two people enter into a life-long union, making their vows before God and receiving the grace and blessing of God to help them fulfill their vows.
Cordoba House offers pre-marriage advice to couples who intend to join each other in the holy bond and commitment of matrimony. We perform the formal marriage service, in conjunction with state requirements and documentation.
Funeral Services
When the inevitability of death comes to our loved ones, the details and pressures of funerals can be taxing. Cordoba House will offer funeral services for the deceased, including washing of the body, proper wrapping with cloth, funeral sermons, and prayer services.
