Mission and Values
The mission of the Cordoba House Sunday School is to build a uniquely inclusive, and nurturing learning environment that is both authentically Islamic and relevant to modern day American life.
Our aim is to equip our students with a comprehensive understanding of Islamic beliefs and practices through cultivating a personal relationship with Islam based on the love of God, His Prophets, His scriptures and His angels.
Background and History
Cordoba House Sunday School provides a welcoming space for in-person Sunday School Islamic education and Quran Recitation for children and teens aged between 5 to 18 years.
The program was launched in New York City in Fall 2015. Our small group classes provide students opportunities to learn in an intimate setting where each child feels heard, seen and known. We provide high quality tajweed instruction by qualified teachers. Our classes are held in downtown Manhattan on Sundays from 10.30-1pm. We are currently working on expanding our services to provide online private sessions on Quran Recitation.
We provide students with a brand new curriculum accompanied by cutting edge, age appropriate lessons that is relevant to the needs of American children and teens. These lessons are tailored to provide our students with a strong foundation of Islamic practices and perspectives that will inspire and inform them for the rest of their lives inshallah.
We are also developing lively Teenage Halaqa sessions where important issues will be discussed and our youth will get a chance to connect with other youth and make new friendships.
