A new traveling installation, called “Halal Metropolis: Exploring Muslim Visibility in Detroit,” aims to spotlight the culture and heritage of American Muslims in Michigan. According to its curator, Razi Jafri, the installation highlights the many ways in which Muslim Americans have touched the culture and everyday lives of the region and once you see the exhibition, it is difficult to ignore these details, saying, ”There’s signage, storefronts, things on menus, streetscapes. Once you start compiling it all together, you start to get an understanding [that] this is a phenomenon. This is actually something that really exists.”
